Breaking: Census To Hold May 3rd, Says FG

Federal Government of Nigeria, has declared the 2023 national population and housing census to start its activities on May 3rd.

Member of publicity and advocacy committee on the 2023 National Population and Housing Census, Dr. Garba Abati, confirmed this to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) forum on Sunday in Abuja.

Dr. Abati, further stressed, that the exercise will only last for three (3) days which commence 3rd and ends 5th May across the country.

Dr. Abati, who is the Director-General National Orientation Agency, explained that the exercise will get  across to every citizen, household and structure for national planning and project execution.

However, he added that what brought the shift from the initial date which was March 29th to April 2nd to the current date, is as the result of the elections in the country, as he explained; election to be a very imperative assignment that needed to be addressed before the Census though still a crucial issue to consider.

Meanwhile, just like election, census is equally a very long process which involves training, sub-training, retraining till the stipulated date for actual house listings and numbering will commence and then the final process of capturing the population will now begins.
